The kid cracks me up

Jonas, like all kids his age makes his parents laugh every day. The other day we were sitting at the table for breakfast and talking about the birds we were seeing out our window. Jonas is learning some bird names and when I called a bird a cheeky little beggar which is a phrase from the movie secret garden , Jonas got upset. "no mom it's called a sparrow" so I called the bird a cheeky beggar again just for fun and he got even more upset. "NO! It's not a cheeky boogar!! It's called a sparrow!!!"
Then later on that day he was going to the bathroom and heard me talking about Savannah's new outfit from Aunt Funi and Uncle Paul. He leaned way over and said, "Is it cute mom?" (He's heard me calling a lot of her outfits cute.) His new favorite pastime is digging holes in our backyard.

Savannah is growing way too fast. She's already starting to fit into her 3 month size clothes and she is starting to smile and coo in the most heartmelting way that all babies do. It's been lots of fun. Her favorite things: seeing her momma after a nap, listening to her papa and Jonas sing, and watching her mobile.

I also have to say, Happy Birthday Mom! I figured that you'd probably be reading this on your birthday or close to it. We love ya!

Jax

So James decided to display the only facial hair allowed in the army. The stache. apparently the mustache is making a comeback right now. I don't know why. Luckily his mustache is gone now but the picture is always good for a few laughs. James said that he wanted to wear a small mustache to show how dumb the army regulations on facial hair are.
This last weekend we took a trip to Jacksonville Florida. All of the road signs there abbreviated Jacksonville to Jax. It was cold even in Florida this last weekend but we still managed to have fun.
The last pictures are of pretty Savannah in her Sunday dress. My friend lent me some beautiful baby dresses that we are having fun with. I'm glad this one didn't get thrown up on like last week's dress did.

Christmas and more

Blessing Day

I know this is a ton of pictures. We had fun on Christmas morning. Mom and Dad Powell and Aunt Mo were here to make our Christmas more fun. Jonas didn't quite get into it as much as we were hoping. He still doesn't really care about Santa that much, but he liked leaving him some cookies on the fireplace on Christmas eve. He also loved his new mini flashlight and used it to fish everything out of his stocking.
The day after Christmas we drove to Tybee Island to look at the lighthouse and play at the beach. It wasn't very good weather and I was way to cold to even think about getting my feet wet. The weather didn't seem to bother Jonas. He's pretty impervious to cold. Some of us (not me) even tried the crawfish at the crabshack. The day after that we went to Forsyth park, walked from there down Bull St. Thanks for the recommendation Greg! Bull Street is amazing because of how historic and beautiful it is. It also didn't hurt that on this day the weather was PERFECT. At the end of Bull St you end up on a great River walk where you can watch huge ships come in and shop and eat seafood.
The next day was a Sunday with very nice weather again. James was able to give Savannah a blessing while we had family here. It was a beautiful blessing and we are having so much fun having Savannah as part of our family.

Blessings

I'm sitting here listening to Mannheim Steamroller "Still Nacht" while baby Savannah sleeps in her bouncer all bundled up. I'm so humbled by the blessings we have right now. I can't believe all that we've been given. What a wonderful Christmas gift. We are soo thankful that our baby girl is finally here and is healthy. We're so happy that she is part of our family now. She was born at 3:53 am on the 12th. She weighed 7lbs 12 oz and was 19 inches long. We were very curious to see if she would have red hair but she was born with dark brown hair and we really can't decide who she looks like so if you have an opinion let us know. Grandma Atkinson has been here doing so much for us and taking very good care of us. Jonas is really happy about having a new baby sister and seems to be handling the change pretty well so far. According to him our baby's name is "baby zoovanna". He likes to give her kisses on the head and when he hasn't seen her for a while he'll ask "hey where's your baby?". We also celebrated his birthday earlier this month with a trip to Chuckee Cheeses. I'm never going there on a Saturday afternoon ever again. I might not ever go there again anyways, but that was a bad time to go. Oh well. Jonas had fun. December will always be a fun but very busy time of year for us. At least the two birthdays didn't fall on the same day. I'm just so grateful for all of our blessings right now.

Jonas had a great time with the Thompson kids

We got to spend some time with some of James' cousins for Thanksgiving. They were so nice to let us come and hang out with them. The last picture is of me with Bonnie, James' cousin who also happens to be a friend of mine from my mission. It's funny that we ended up related and pregnant at the same time. I know that at first glance it looks like the broad side of a barn but that is actually my belly at 9 months pregnant. I know it's kind of shocking. We are all hoping the baby comes sooner rather than later.
